New Years Boycott
January 1, 2009 - 9:37 pm UTC
OK, so I don’t really boycott the new year. However, I don’t celebrate the new year or New Years Eve. I don’t look back on that one day every year and reflect on my life. I’m constantly reflecting on my life, my struggles, successes, and failures. Sometimes I focus on it a bit too much, so I just kind of ignore a holiday that focuses on such things. Instead, I sleep.
I did try to work out a Star Wars marathon for last night, but that was just to have a fun reason to hang out with friends. We attempted to start one today, didn’t really finish; I don’t think it helps that I ended up going down for a nap.
What I will do, however, is to wish everyone a good year ahead of them. This one promises to be big for me since our family will be larger by one.

January 1st, 2009 @ 10:12 pm UTCYah I don’t really reflect on the year past. But I do look forward to the year to come. I think of it as a time to get a fresh start since I don’t operate on “semesters” anymore. Or at least that is my outlook for this year. I’m not into making resolutions or anything. We had a good time last night with some neighbors. New Years was never a big thing for me before but Chris has sort of changed that for me now. When we first met I couldn’t get over how all of his friends from high school & family members would call each other on New Years at midnight to wish each other a happy new year. It was a big deal for them. I still can’t bring myself to call anyone that late, if its past 9pm its just too ingrained in me to not bother anyone.
I haven’t watched Star Wars in so long. I am thinking of picking up some Star Wars books for the first time in 4 or 5 years though. They’ve got a few new things that look interesting and I do have fond memories from that era in my life. I’m thinking about it anyway.

January 5th, 2009 @ 1:13 pm UTCI don’t really reflect either. If friends are around, we drink and be merry but this year we also had a quiet marathon movie night. We did Batman Begins and Dark Knight on the the blu – and wow, even better than the theater.
@Natalie – I get a craving to read a star wars book every once and a while. I haven’t actually come through on that yet. It’s mostly because Lucas ruined the magic for me. Darn him.
